Training And Coaching as An Industry, Rather Than A Message

Many people mistakenly consider that their work in training or coaching should be a humanitarian work with a mission far from the standards of industry, management or trade.

And whether this principle stems from a true belief from within the coach, or if it is just a claim to appear in a better light in front of others, our current article will explain to you why you should practice training and coaching as an industry/craft and not as an advocate or social reformer and how this greatly serves to your client in a beneficial way.

Training and coaching is a (business)

Some people, especially Arabs, are off put by this statement but this annoyance goes back to some people misunderstanding of the word (business).

Business is defined as: any activity that offers (value) to a client needing this (value) in order to improve their life to the better, this (value) should be offered at a reasonable price regarding the capabilities of the client on the one hand, and achieve (profit) for the provider of the (value) on the other hand, this profit helps him to continue, grow and develop what he offers to the client.

The word (value) here refers to training or coaching services.

A lot of trainers now (have high expertise and know how to prepare the training materials and when present in the training hall among other trainees, he is the most amazing and you find that all the trainees like him very much and get great benefit from him). So he is, in all the meanings of the word, (a competent trainer with a very high level of training skills and experience), but you do not find him working intensively or continuing in the field of training or leaving a significant impact on a very large number of people.

Have you wondered why that happens with the majority of trainers?

It is due to the fact that he is a trainer lacking in leadership and entrepreneur skills

These are:

·       The ability to think

·       The ability to transform thoughts into reality

·       The ability to discover the clients’ needs (the market)

·       The ability to meet customer needs

·       Pricing ability

·       The ability to manage a work team

·       The ability to form fruitful relationships

·       The ability to achieve profit

·       The ability to invest profit towards growth

·       Marketing ability

·       The ability to build a brand (strong personality)

Whoever possesses these skills is a very successful entrepreneur, and if they have the technical skills that make them a distinguished trainer or coach then they are a successful entrepreneur in the training or coaching field.

The question currently on your mind must be:

What is the difference between (a competent trainer) only and (a competent trainer who has the skills of an entrepreneur)?

The difference is fairly simple and can be summed up in two words:

Persistence and effect

Persistence:

You will see many trainers working in the training field as an additional or secondary profession, but in regards of management of life they depend on another profession as the main source of income, and training is an additional source of income, and therefore a limited time of their life is allocated to training.

And other cases, you see excellent trainers that have left the training and went to practice another profession because the training could not cover their life expenses in full, so they start practicing training as a secondary job, then starts practicing training on occasions, and then begins to gradually abandon training completely.

As for the entrepreneurial coach, that is a coach who can manage their training work in a way that makes profits so that the income of from training or coaching activity can provide for and sustain a good life.

Effect:

The trainer or coach that possesses entrepreneurial skills

You’ll find that thousands have been trained by them and possibly millions that have read or listened to or attended to them (physically or online), You will also find that their production is abundant, develops rapidly, is presented in a more professional and enjoyable way for the reader and trainee. And so, they are able to create a recognizably large effect compared to a trainer that trains only tens or hundreds or thousands
